To ensure I provide the best and safest care possible, I require a complimentary 15 Minute Consultation prior to Overnight Pet Sitting to get to know each other (you can book that here). By default these are over Google Meets, but if in-person is preferred please reach out here.
If you’d like to do a consult for any other service, or just have some questions, please go ahead and book! I’d love to chat.
I'll want to learn all about your pet(s), including:
Their daily routine for meals, walks, medications, and playtime.
Their unique personality and any behavioral quirks (e.g., leash pulling, separation anxiety, resource guarding, specific fears).
Their comfort level around new people, children, or other animals we might encounter.
Any existing training commands or protocols you use. While I am not a certified trainer, I am more than happy to help reinforce your current training and maintain consistency.
-
We require booking at least 24 hours in advance for pet visits or dog walks. These appointments are usually much more plentiful, so they are easier to book hastily.
Overnight pet sitting requires booking at least one week in advance, however as a one-woman-show currently this service gets booked out quickly (ESPECIALLY for holidays). The earlier the better, but I’d recommend booking ~one month out.
-
I do! I love all creatures. I have experience in caring for horses, goats, and chickens. I am also open to caring for small mammals (like bunnies, guinea pigs, ferrets, etc), birds, reptiles, and even farm animals (like cows, donkeys, etc)! You can contact us here if you have questions about care for less traditional pets.
-
We do require a free 15 minute consultation prior to Overnight Pet Sitting. This must be done via video (a Google Hangouts link will be included in the confirmation email) OR in person.
Once booked, we require each new client complete a New Client Information Form. We link to it in our email confirmation and again in the reminder email.
-
Absolutely! Each visit, walk, or overnight will include a quick text update as well as at least one photo.
-
Pet Visits
I am available for pet visits as early as 6am up until 11pm. If a pet visit is needed outside of those hours, I will certainly try to accommodate. Please reach out so we can discuss further.
Dog Walks
I offer Dog Walks between 8am and 5pm.
While slight rescheduling within the time block may be necessary to accommodate travel, my arrival is guaranteed within a three-hour window of when you booked. I do my best to stick to the times windows below:
Morning: 8am - 11am
Noon: 11am - 2pm
Afternoon/Evening: 2pm - 5pm
If you require a specific time I will do my best to accommodate, but please let me know as soon as possible.
Overnight Pet Sitting
Overnight Pet Sitting guarantees I will be at your home from ~7pm in the evening to ~9am the following day. It is possible to add Full Day stays where your pets are not alone for longer than 4 hrs at a time. While Overnight Pet Sitting does include potty breaks, it is also possible to add Dog Walks if your pup(s) require them.
-
My primary location is the Duke Park neighborhood of Durham, however I serve anywhere within a ~25 mi radius including Raleigh, Cary, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough. Please contact us if you are slightly outside this area to confirm availability.
-
They are relatively standard and cover things like service commitments, payment terms, property/key handling, emergencies, veterinary releases, and liability. You can read them more in depth below.
I do also require a Veterinary Release form to ensure, in the worst cast scenario, we are aligned on care for your pet. You can review that form here.

We require a 50% deposit upon booking that is collected when you make an appointment. The remaining balance is due on the date the service begins.
The card used to pay the deposit will be automatically charged for the remaining balance on the date the service begins. If you need to update payment details, or if you’d like to pay for the service in full prior to the due date, you can click the “Pay For Appointment” button in the confirmation and reminder emails OR reach out to erin@makingfetchhappen.co.
Tipping is an option, and while it is never expected it is always appreciated!

Pet Visits & Dog Walking
You are able to cancel or reschedule via the website up to 12 hrs ahead of the scheduled appointment.
HOWEVER, a full refund is available only if cancelled by 24 hours before the service begins.
If cancelled later than 24 hours before the service begins, you forfeit the 50% deposit paid at the time of the appointment.
Overnight Pet Sitting
You are able to cancel or reschedule via the website up to 3 days (72 hours) ahead of the scheduled appointment.
A full refund is available if cancelled 3 days (72 hours) before 7pm the day the service begins.
If cancelled later than 3 days (72 hours) before 7pm the day the service begins, you forfeit your deposit for the following 6 calendar days. A refund of your deposit for any additional days will be issued.
That’s confusing, so here are examples — you find out you can’t make your trip 48 hours prior to the start of your booking and have to cancel. The deposit for your first 4 days will forfeit with the remaining refunded.
If you have to cancel 47 hours prior to the start of your booking, the deposit for the first 5 days will be forfeit with any remaining refunded, and so on.

Yes! I have experience administering oral medications with my own (very picky) pup as well as administering injected medications.

I am currently going through the process of becoming certified in Dog and Cat First Aid & CPR via Arden Moore’s Pro Pet 4 U course so I can be a reliable first line of defense.
I also gather as much information as I can from the client ahead of time in anticipation of the worst case scenario with the hopes we never need to cross that bridge.
In my New Client Information Form, I ask each client for their:
vet information
preferred emergency vet nearby
emergency contacts
In my Veterinary Release form, I ask each client for their authorization in case of emergency to:
transport your pet(s) to the vet
If you are not reachable:
approve any treatment using my best judgement with input from attending veterinarian EXCLUDING euthanasia
if that doesn’t suit you, you are instead asked to provide the maximum dollar amount of care I am allowed to approve
election of how to handle life-sustaining treatment should the attending veterinarian designate the pet’s condition as terminal or inhumanely suffering
TL;DR - My priority is keeping your pet safe. In some cases, this may mean I am unable to contact you prior to leaving for the vet. However, you have my word I will reach out as soon as it’s safe to do so. From there, we will discuss next steps as these are often case-by-case.
-
In the New Client Information Form, I ask for an inclement weather emergency guardian who lives within a mile of your home. This is only to be used in case of emergency if I am stranded somewhere and am unable to get to your home.
-
Yes! I am insured through Pet Sitters Associates.
